In a lower body lift, the surgeon makes an incision all around the patient’s torso. Then, the surgeon uses liposuction to recontour the patient’s figure from the ribs to the knees. BMI Requirements for Plastic Surgery in Mexico
A Body Mass Index under 32 is typically recommended for most cosmetic surgeries. However, bariatric patients often have a higher BMI due to excess skin, and our surgeons take that into consideration. MCC’s surgical team evaluates each case individually, though operating on patients with a BMI over 30 is rare unless special considerations apply.
Medications and Supplements to Avoid Before Surgery
This is a list of the medications and supplements to be avoided before any surgery. You must quit taking them at least 2 weeks before surgery:
- The “G Family”: garlic, ginger, ginkgo biloba, and ginseng
- Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), fish oils, garlic, onion, and Vitamin E. These supplements can affect blood clotting after surgery.
- Feverfew, ginkgo biloba, Coenzyme Q10, ginger, and ginseng can interact with Warfarin, a common blood-thinning drug, and possibly cause bleeding.
- Hawthorn berry, kyu shin, licorice, plantain, uzara root, and ginseng can interact with Digoxin, a heart drug many patients receive during and after surgery, and the interaction could be fatal.
- St. John’s wort can interact dangerously with a number of drugs, including Digoxin, Warfarin, oral contraceptives, Cyclosporin, and antiviral drugs.
- Quit taking Iron 1 week before surgery.
