New York
The state of New York tops the list of cosmetic procedures last year. According to the Wall Street Journal, the rise of cosmetic treatments mostly occurs before and after the holiday season. This occurs most often because people like to hide in their homes while they heal and have more time off during this time of year.
Nevada
Time Magazine reports that cosmetic procedures were at an all-time high around Christmas in Las Vegas. Local surgeons show a 20-30% rise during this time. Other popular cities for plastic surgeries were Reno and Carson City.
Florida
The same Time magazine study reported that those living in South Florida booked appointments for cosmetic surgeon more than any other region in the state. Even those in their 70s, 80s and 90s were having procedures done in the state in 2013.
California
While not the leader in 2013, California is the all-time national leader for cosmetic procedures especially around the Los Angeles area. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, San Diego is becoming a rising star in terms of number of cosmetic surgeries performed each year.
Virginia
The most surprising state in the list is Virginia. The city of Richmond in particular has seen a rising number of men having surgical procedures. This city has made the Men’s Health Top 10 list for most plastic surgeries ranking at number 7. The capital city of the state also has a large number of plastic surgery institutes, which may be contributing to the rising numbers of procedures.
The World Leaders
While the United States is definitely a leader in breast augmentations, Asia hits the top 5 list with three of their countries – China, South Korea and Japan on the top rhinoplasty procedures done worldwide.
The United States remains first in total number of cosmetic procedures, however in terms of procedures per capita; they rank behind Italy, Greece and South Korea.
